“Rats were treated with anti-mouse CD18 antibody (M18/2 clone) intraperitoneally to block leukocyte adhesion in vivo. Anti-mouse CD18 administration delayed axonal regeneration in the sciatic nerve model. In vivo CD18 blockade reduced macrophage infiltration at the injury site. Functional recovery assessed by walking track analysis was slowed post-anti-mouse CD18. Nerve histology showed decreased myelin formation in anti-mouse CD18 cohorts.”
