Description
BP000997-GD23: Recombinant Human b-NGF Protein
Background
Beta-Nerve Growth Factor (β-NGF) protein, a small secreted protein, is important for the growth, maintenance, and survival of sympathetic and sensory neurons (nerve cells). beta-NGF, Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), Neurotrophin-3 (NT-3), and Neurotrophin 4/5 (NT-4/5) belong to the neurotrophin family of nerve growth factors. Mutations in the encoding gene have been associated with hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy, type 5 (HSAN5), and dysregulation of the protein expression is associated with allergic rhinitis.
BP000997-GD23: Recombinant Human Beta-Nerve Growth Factor (β-NGF) Protein
Source: E. coli-derived.
Recombinant Human Beta-Nerve Growth Factor (β-NGF) Protein is a non-glycosylated non-covalent homodimer of two 118 amino acid polypeptides each with a molecular mass of 13.4 kDa.
N-terminal sequence analysis: Ser-Ser-Ser-His-Pro.
The ED50 of the recombinant human beta-Nerve Growth Factor (β-NGF) protein as determined by the dose-dependant stimulation of the proliferation of human TF-1 cells was < 1.0 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of > 1 x 10^6 IU/mg.
Endotoxin: < 0.1 ng/ug (1 EU/ug). Purity: > 95% by SEC-HPLC and reducing SDS-PAGE.
Formulation: Lyophilized from a 0.2 um filtered solution of 20 mM PB, 250 mM NaCl, pH 7.0.
Reconstitution: Always centrifuge tubes before opening. Do not mix by vortex or pipetting. It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100 ug/ml. Dissolve the lyophilized protein in 1X PBS. Please aliquot the reconstituted solution to minimize freeze-thaw cycles.
Shipping: The product is shipped at ambient temperature. Upon receipt, store it immediately at the temperature recommended below.
Stability & Storage: Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
12 months from date of receipt, -20 to -70°C as supplied.
1 month, 2 to 8°C under sterile conditions after reconstitution.
3 months, -20 to -70°C under sterile conditions after reconstitution.
