Description
PA002885-PA1876: p57KIP2 Polyclonal Antibody
Introduction
CDKN1C(Cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1C) also called p57(KIP2) or KIP2, is a protein which in humans is encoded by the CDKN1C imprinted gene. The CDKN1C gene encodes p57(KIP2), a potent tight-binding inhibitor of several G1 cyclin/Cdk complexes and a negative regulator of cell proliferation. The CDKN1C gene is paternally imprinted, with preferential expression of the maternal allele. Matsuoka et al. (1995) demonstrated that the CDKN1C gene is located on chromosome 11p15.5, a region implicated in both sporadic cancers and Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, a familial cancer syndrome, making it a tumor suppressor candidate. The CDKN1C gene contains 3 exons. Mutations of CDKN1C are implicated in sporadic cancers and Beckwith-Wiedemann syndromesuggesting that it is a tumor suppressor candidate. Diaz-Meyer et al. (2005) concluded that CDKN1C may be downregulated by multiple mechanisms including some that do not involve promoter methylation.
